Job Description

The Position (Orange, CA)—Business Intelligence Analyst—SQL Database & Other

Western Dental Services, Inc.—with 5,000 employees and California’s largest dental services provider and one of the nation’s largest dental HMO’s—is looking for a smart, talented professional with at least 2 years of experience in data analysis, including with SQL databases, to join Western’s team of over 550 professionals and staff at Western’s corporate headquarters in Orange, California.

Position Responsibilities

The position offered is full time, and will require (a) training and development to learn Western’s existing systems and applications, (b) strong organizational and team-work skills, (c) strong technical skills with SQL databases and other systems and applications, (d) collaboration with experienced professionals in Western’s operations, finance, and information systems, and other corporate departments, (e) good communication skills, (f) versatility in working with analytical and financial data, and creative information systems tools and reports, (g) good judgment and a strong grasp of people so as to work well with team members and members of all other Western Departments; and (h) lots of enthusiasm for seeing Western’s business improve constantly.

 

The successful candidate will work closely with several professionals in analyzing credit extension and collection patterns and trends, operating metrics, delivery of care metrics, and other data and indicators in order to evaluate numerous aspects of the Company’s business and operations.  The job responsibilities will include:

·        Marketing analytics, business analytics, and credit underwriting and collections analytics

·        Performing complex data extractions and manipulations, which culminate in the design and production of ad-hoc analysis and reports for external clients and internal management

·        Performing data validation to ensure accuracy and appropriateness of analytic models

·        Designing and automating reports for efficient production for multiple clients

·        Preparing executive summary reports

·        Documentation

Credentials and Other Requirements (Mandatory)


Applicants must meet all of the following requirements:


·        Minimum of Bachelor's Degree from a 4 year college

·        Skill and experience in SQL and business intelligence data

·        Minimum of 2+ years experience as a business analyst, with emphasis on quantitative reasoning, analytical modeling, and operations reporting

·        Knowledge of business intelligence system functions

·        Strong ad-hoc SQL query development skills, working knowledge of relational databases, and experience with MS Word, PowerPoint, and Access

·        Superior data mining, extraction, transformation, modeling, and validation testing skills.  (Actuary experience or statistical background is a plus.)
